After graduating with a 3-year diploma in sound engineering in 2017, Georgia started working as a freelanced sound engineer for a few of the companies in Cape Town such as Eastern Acoustics and Golden Circle. One of the first shows she got to work at was South Africa’s leading Music Festival, Rocking the Daisies. She was one of the many crew members working on the Main Stage for the duration of the festival.
Georgia is currently employed as a permanent staff member at Ampere Event Technology. She is working as the Project Manager, managing the technical and scenic requirements. Some of the events she has worked with are:

– We Love Summer
– Future Frequency
– Eden Experience
– Comic-Con Africa JHB
– Several significant awards and gala dinners.
Georgia has also earned her competency rigging certificate through Prolyte and will be moving back to technical into the rigging and structures department.

Some advice for future/current students:
My advice to anyone else choosing this industry, especially women, is that no matter how tough it gets, keep your goal in mind and learn what your passion is. Do not be afraid to move into different departments in the industry. It’s not a job if you love what you do and do not worry about the lack of sleep; it’s worth it!
