In 2012 Lize finished her 1 year Higher Certificate in Sound Engineering Lize then went to study BCom LLB at Stellenbosch University. She didn’t finish her degree due to her music career taking off.
In 2014, Lize took part in South Africa’s most well-known singing competitions, Idols South Africa. She was placed third in the competition. Once her journey on Idols came to an end, Lize started to perform, record & produce her own music. Lize has released many of her own tracks on Apple Music, Spotify, Sound Cloud & Youtube.
Some artists that Lize has worked with are Cosher, Howard Edward, DSB, DJ Qness, Ben Ludik and producers from Nashville. She has also shared the stage with some of South Africa’s top musicians such as Parlotones, Francois van Coke, Zolani (Freshly Ground), Watershed and Mi Casa.
Words of Wisdom for current/
“It will stand you in good stead to know what’s going on behind the scenes too; don’t neglect the “small things”. Pay attention, network, take as many opportunities as you can to learn and grow early on, and lastly try. Don’t think and research too much when it comes to music and production, try different things, play around with settings, get super comfortable with your software. As my lecturer, Gaston liked to say: “don’t just rely on the computer and the visuals, use your ears!”
