Rae de JagerCape Audio College
Rae is the founder of Cape Audio College and continues to manage the institution at an executive level. Rae is chairman of the Governing body and sits on the Executive Board. Before taking on an executive position, Rae actively ran Cape Audio College for 27 years. He developed the original curriculum and has constantly developed and recontextualized the body of knowledge that makes up the curriculum today, keeping up to date with technological advancements and industry trends. Not only is Rae a qualified and experienced sound engineer spanning over 3 decades he is also a qualified educator. He holds an Advanced Certificate in Adult Education as well as a Master’s Degree in Higher Education. Together these qualifications and this expertise makes the perfect combination for overseeing a creative sound engineering college.
Rae qualified as a sound engineer in Australia and worked in various facets of the sound industry for a year in Australia after graduating. On return to South Africa Rae started an acoustic consulting operation whose clients included the New Apostolic Church and the SABC. Rae also founded and operated Tin Pan Alley Sound Productions, a recording studio facility, which he ran for 2 decades. During this time, he engineered many projects from album recordings to cinema and radio commercials for top brands in South Africa including Caltex, Foschini Group, Zippo, Windhoek Lager, Clicks, Red Bull and Gilbeys to name but a few. During this time Rae got to work with many top advertising agencies delivering top quality audio productions which culminated in a prestigious Multichoice/Kaleidoscope Vuka award presented by Spike Lee for best commercial overall. Apart from his illustrious career in the advertising industry Rae engineered and produced Bananas in Pyjamas, a well-known children’s program that received worldwide recognition.
